Every year around November, we start to plan for Christmas. That actually gets me nervous. Early on in 2015, I noticed a trend, customers started buying our products as gifts. This was not part of the initial plan for the business. Cosmetics are supposed to be personal, people get kinda picky with what they use. Or so I thought. It is actually a shared experience. Someone finds a soap, they love the smell, the feel, how it treats their pimples, or how soft it makes their skin feel. They call a friend and tell them about it, or buy them one on their birthday, or for Christmas. By creating a variety of scents, we have provided the opportunity for people to use something familiar(Shea Butter & Black Soap) in a scent they liked, and share that experience with others.
Sometimes, it is still a challenge to explain to people that, not every fragrance has a unique benefit to the skin, it is mainly a personal preference of luxury. In our part of the world, skincare has to tone, brighten, lighten, remove or correct something, so it's a constant struggle to tell people to just enjoy their skincare. 
But most do, and they share our products for Birthdays, Anniversaries, Mother's Day, Christmas, Valentine's Day and Just Because... The lovely people who receive these gifts, love them and become our customers and that is the story of how NAYA by Africa has grown.
